Monday Night!

With the completion of Grandma and Papa Kohn's beautiful new home, Eoin re-started his ritual of Monday Night with Mama! Each Monday night Mama will pick him up from Little Jewels and they will enjoy the evening together and she will drop him off at Little Jewels on Tuesday morning. It gives Mama and Eoin (and Papa too!) a change to spend some quality time together, but it also gives Eoin a chance to sleep in on Tuesday mornings. I have an early meeting on Tuesdays, so Eoin doesn't have to wake up for that anymore!

Of course Jordan and I miss him, especially when we get pictures like the one above, but it also gives us a chance to get some stuff accomplished sans little man (grocery shopping, date night, projects around the house!). We received an update this morning of how he had a great night! The minute he entered the house he said "Ravioli?" Can you guess what he associates with Grandma's house? His new saying is "I like it!" and he apparently exclaimed this several times while devouring some ravioli! And boy does little man love his food! He conned Mama into two breakfasts this morning. He asked for breakfast and Mama made him some cereal, after more, "yummmmm I like this!" they packed up and left for Little Jewels. Upon entering Mama evidently said, "Oh, I forgot you get breakfast here!" and Eoin said "Yes, again!" He is such a character!

We are so lucky to have family nearby and even more lucky to have such a sweet, loving and funny little boy! I know that he will treasure his Monday's at Mama's and it will definitely be great for him to have some sole attention once his little sibling comes along!

13 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 13 weeks
Size of baby: Baby Kohn is the size of a peach
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 3 lbs . . . I did actually jump on a scale and I'm holding strong at 3lbs!
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my normal clothes but I definitely notice them getting tighter!
Gender: Can't wait to find out!
Movement: Not sure, definitely feeling some gas though, haha
Sleep: I'm so tired - that I sleep pretty well at night!
What I miss: This week, sushi! I want it, and might have to resort to some sort of cooked roll.
Cravings: McDonald's breakfast, white bread
Symptoms: I'm starting to feel a lot better! I am getting some energy back, enough that I ran Saturday and Sunday and made it to boot camp today!

I am so happy to be out of the first trimester. I remember this trimester when I was pregnant with Eoin and I remember it being pretty great! We had some fantastic weather this past weekend and I got out and enjoyed it by doing my little running route; I run 2 miles out then walk the 2 miles back. It felt so good to sweat! I was a little tighter on Sunday, but still did it! It hurts so good and I know it is definitely good for me and the peanut!

I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for next Monday morning. I cannot wait to hear the heart beat again. Actually I couldn't wait! I called my doctor's office to see if they could fit me in to hear the heart beat on Thursday. I needed a little reassurance and peace of mind. Thankfully my doctor's office completely understood and within the hour I had heard the heart beat and was back at work! The healthy beat was in the 160s!

This being my busy time at work, I have loads to keep me busy through the week. Looking forward to the next update!

Blawkhawk Down

Yesterday we headed over to Illinois Wesleyan with Melissa, Katie and the kids for one of their Homecoming festivities. A Blackhawk helicopter landed on the football practice field, staying to give the kids an opportunity to actually get inside. We had front row for the landing - which isn't necessarily a good thing. The blades can kick up to 100 mile an hour winds and we happened to be standing by some mulch. A little dust and flying sticks aside, it was incredible!

the kiddos waiting patiently

the helicopter landed!

Eoin thoroughly enjoyed the helicopter and climbing inside; he walked all the way around it with Jordan looking and touching. He seemed in awe! As we were leaving he spotted 2 police cars though and was much more enthralled by something he could see any day of the week, especially since our neighbor is a police officer! The officer was kind enough to put the lights on for Eoin and I think that is what really made his day!

12 weeks

I'm 12 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 12 weeks
Size of baby: Baby Kohn is the size of a lime
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 3 lbs . . . well that was two weeks ago, but I'm not weighing myself except for doctor's appointments; I tend to stress out about it too much then!
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my normal clothes but I definitely notice them getting tighter!
Gender: Can't wait to find out!
Movement: Pretty sure I felt a little movement in my lower abdomen yesterday . . . or it was just my imagination or gas, who knows!!
Sleep: I'm so tired - that I sleep pretty well at night!
What I miss: Working out hard!
Cravings: McDonald's breakfast
Symptoms: I'm starting to feel a lot better. I have vomited this pregnancy and didn't really with Eoin. I have basically been nauseous every minute of every day and moreso when I am hungry

Well, there goes it! This will be the update I continue to post weekly until Baby Kohn arrives. This pregnancy has been a roller coaster so far! From pain from a cyst giving the doctor cause to be concerned that the pregnancy may be ectopic (clearly that is a no!) to blood test results yielding low progesterone. I have not been at my beloved boot camp in weeks nor ran a mile since I can remember. I am beginning to feel great; however, and have been given the green light to resume activity so I'm really hoping to change that!

Beyond the negative, Jordan and I am beyond thrilled to be welcoming another little life into ours! Eoin is going to make an absolutely perfect big brother. He has named the baby "Tractor Eoin Dean," and although I think it is a perfect name, as I think most things that come out of Eoin's mouth are (I'm not at all a biased parent), I'm not sure it will suit our little girl. No, I do not currently know the gender, we are about 6 weeks out from that if everything cooperates, but I am noting that I will be knocked over with a feather if the ultrasound technician declares a boy. Do not get me wrong, I would be thrilled either way, boy or girl, I just have a sneaking suspicion this is a girl and I want it documented!

In other news, we are currently working on transforming our fourth bedroom into Eoin's big boy room; his current room will remain the nursery. I'm excited for Eoin to have his room with toys and a big boy bed. We didn't do much to his nursery upon moving into our house; it had just been painted, so painting it seemed like a waste of time and resources. We basically hung a few things on the wall, put his furniture in and called it a day. I am beyond excited for this room to be all 'his.' And of course, once we find out the gender for sure, I will begin plans for the nursery! Okay, so maybe the plans are already laid out if it is a girl . . . they will just be executed later :)

Until next time . . .

Our little family of three . . .

. . . is going to become one of four!

4/17/2011

While I wasn't blogging we were living . . .

Let's see, my last substantial post was around Easter; hmmmm, there tends to be a lots of life that can be fit into 5 months!

Our little baby turned 2 in June . . . seriously, Eoin is now 2 years old! Where does the time go! We celebrated on his birthday with pizza and some family and friends. Just a small get together that was perfect.

Eoin moved into the Bear room at Little Jewels shortly after his 2nd birthday. Although he misses his friends in the Bee room, he has made many more friends in the Bear room and is even dipping into the big world of potty training (that is definitely worthy of its own post). His verbal skills have increased exponentially since moving rooms as he is back to being one of the youngest in this room. He has fantastic teachers with Ms. Deanna, Ms. Sierra and Ms. Kristen.

In that last 5 months Eoin has become much more interested in movies and now even has the attention span to make it through one! The only problem . . . he tends to only chose one movie to ever watch . . . Disney's UP! Now, I definitely admit that my little man has discerning taste and that Disney's Up is certainly a classic that I loved from first watch, but sadly, I am immune to this movie's emotional power now . . . sad. Toy Story has made an appearance or two, thankfully, so we now have 3 movie on rotation (and once Toy Story 3 is available on DVD we will have 4!)

Update this blog already!!!!!!!!!!

Do you ever feel like you have so much going on, but you say to yourself, as soon as x is finished I will have so much more time available for y and z? I can't wait to be done with x!

Well, I couldn't wait to complete my Master's degree . . . then I couldn't wait until Leadership McLean County was finished . . . then I couldn't wait for, oh who know what! But whatever it was meant that I would have much more time for 'things.' Oh, you know, like knitting, reading, baking, running, updating this blog! Well, the time just never came, but with so much occurring lately my poor little neglected blog is becoming a priority again . . . so finally I am updating this blog! Enjoy
