Eoin's daycare birthday party!

The birthday boy and his crew! Jaycie, Leo, Sylena and Briar
Lovin' the balloons that mommy brought

the brownie cake that Sylena made, complete with Eoin's favorite! Mickey Mouse

me and my big boy, Birthday Prince!
I was fortunate enough to head over to Terri's house this afternoon to spend some time with my lil' birthday boy! I was prepared with Happy Meals, cupcakes and balloons to get the party started, but it was already under way! I walked in to find my Little Prince was adorning his very own birthday crown and was getting ready to cut into his birthday brownie that his cousin Sylena made especially for his special day! I'm pretty sure Eoin isn't 100% sure what is going on, but he is definitely loving all of the attention! We are so fortunate to have such great daycare arrangements, I know that he is well-loved!

Happy 1st Birthday!!!!

I'm "1" today!!!

the Birthday Boy!!!!!!!

"really, just a few more minutes! I can barely open my eyes!"

waking up on his birthday!!!
Happy Birthday, Eoin Dean McGrenaghan Kohn!
Today marks Eoin's 1 year anniversary of entering the world. I remember the day so vividly, I could swear it was yesterday. He has lit up every part of our lives and brings smiles to our faces every moment we are together. I rocked him to sleep last night with a tear; it was the last time I rocked him to sleep before he turned one! He must have realized that I was being somewhat nostalgic as he actually let me rock and cuddle him!

This morning, Jordan and I crept into his room to wake him up on his birthday. He heard the door crack and I snapped a picture right at the same time . . . it is as if he is saying "seriously, mom, just a few more minutes!" Once we got him dressed in his birthday gear, he sat
up in the chair in his nursery like a big boy and let us snap some pictures. I love him so much!!!
Today we will celebrate at daycare with Happy Meals and cupcakes! I get to be the cool mom for awhile since I work with Ronald McDonald and have easy access to Happy Meals, haha! Tonight we are having cupcakes at the house to celebrate his actual birthday (holy sugar overload :)) and Saturday will be the big 1st birthday bash! Lots to look forward to and a year of fantastic memories to look back upon!

Visitors

Congratulations to Noreen on graduating from high school! We headed up north this past weekend to help her celebrate her membership as part of the class of 2009. It was a great party. On Sunday, I was able to attend Kathleen's bridal shower. It was beautiful, and we are so excited for the wedding in August. Unfortunately, I wasn't great at taking pictures, but I did get a few! We have the pleasure of spending some time with our fantastic relatives from Ireland, Auntie Katrina and her beautiful daughter (and my lovely cousin) Katie! We are so excited that the whole clan gets to make their way across the pond (with Helena!!!) in August . . . so although we were so sad to say our goodbyes, they were as bad knowing we would be seeing them again in 8 short weeks!
I also got to see McKaylah! She is such a little pistol and judging from all of her "babies" she is more than ready to be a big sister, which is definitely a good thing as our new little bundle will be making her entrance on Friday! We couldn't be more excited!

Destin 2009

We were so happy to get out of Dodge, or Bloomington, for a week of fun in Destin, Florida. Unfortunately, Eoin decided to cut some teeth while we were down there, so it made for some uncomfortable days for the lil' man, but for the most part we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Above is just a sampling of pictures . . . I had two cameras with me and this is just a few from one of them. As soon as I find the cord (yes, missing again) to our other camera, more will be uploaded! We enjoyed the sand, the sun and a little of the water :) Eoin loved the water and spending time with his cousin Aidan . . . he decided to take after Aidan on the trip and turned up his nose to baby food . . . so it holds right now, that Eoin will not eat anything that he cannot pick up and put in his mouth himself! Oh, brother, is this lil' man independent or what!

Little boys

Sugar and spice and all things nice, that's what little girls and made of . . .well, little boys are quite different and I found that out this past weekend! Our new home requires a lot less maintenance than our previous abode, which allows for much more family time! But, the grass still needs mowed! Eoin and ventured outside to watch Jordan finish up the mowing; Eoin is not usually in the mood to be held anymore (why would he, he has freedom on the ground!) so, giving in to his wishes, I set him on the driveway. Much to my disgust, up hopped a toad from some rocks that Jordan had placed next to the driveway. Although I wasn't pleased, Eoin took the toad on as a new friend! He wasn't afraid and even picked the toad up on several occasions! He was very curious. I was able to snap a few pictures before I hurried Eoin inside to wash his hands before he touched his face or worse, his mouth!

Backlogged = Backblogged

Well, I have very good intentions to be consistent about getting updates posted to the blog, but you know what they say about good intentions . . .

. . . so here I am backblogging over a month of happenings in the world of Eoin and our little family! School and work have been rather overwhelming without much hope in slowing down anytime soon, but there are fun events coming up in our lives so keep the hate mail coming if you haven't seen evidence of these happening on here :) Be sure to look back . . . I think I have blogged back to March!

Derby Day

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of being invited to watch the Kentucky Derby in style at our the home of two great friends, Beth and Clint. The day was filled with great company, fantastic food and some strong drinks (has anyone ever had a mint julip? I think it might fuel cars in some countries). True to Derby Day Style, we dressed the part . . . as you can see, some dressed different parts of the day (ahem, we had a jockey thanks to Mr. Mavros).
A great time was had by all, and we have to give a big thanks to our hosts with the most, Beth and Clint! (also a huge thank you on my end to Katie and Annie, without whom this pictures would not be possible since I left my camera at home!)
We moved the party to Tina and Krystal's abode later that evening to help them celebrate their 5th Anniversary!!!!
