Happy Birthday Aidan Jo

We trekked to Des Moines to celebrate Lil' Miss Aidan's 3rd birthday this weekend.  I cannot get over the fact that Aidan is now 3!  It is terrifying because that means that Eoin will be three in just a few short weeks.  I am in terrible denial.

Aidan had a princess party and Eoin had an absolute blast playing with the little girls.  He made a crown and even played dress up with Aidan at one point.  I cannot wait to show him this picture when he is older.

Although I was worried about the long car ride with two little ones, it was not too bad!  Definitely have to do it again soon, especially since Grayson will be making his appearance in July.  Eoin is probably the only kid who goes to a birthday party and comes home with presents.  Jordan and I purchased a logger truck to give him after Aidan opened her presents so that he didn't feel too left out, but also because he tends to throw fits, we thought it would alleviate the dilemma. It is difficult for a three year old brain to wrap their brains around the fact that not all presents are for them.  He ended up a little testy before the party started, so he got it a little early.  It also gave him some 'boy' toys to play with.  After the fun festivities, Papa Dean, Jordan and Eoin slipped away for a boys trip to Bass Pro.  Of course, he came home with more goodies in the form of a Bass Pro Hummer that towed a boat and a jet ski.  I'm not sure there is one toy this little man doesn't have.  The funny thing is though, he takes great care of what he does have and he also knows when something is missing!  He plays with every single piece.

Liam did well being out of his element.  He woke several time throughout the night; however, Ashley and Nick recently finished their basement so I was able to be tucked away in a bedroom and not awaken anyone else with his cries!

We will definitely be making the trip to see Ashley, Aidan and Nick again sooner than the 2 years we had in between visits this time!

Happy Cookie Friday

Maternity leave has been fabulous but certainly not without its busy points.  My days are usually spent catching up on some of the missed sleep from the night before, cleaning, laundry and errands.  We have kept Eoin at Little Jewels every day to keep him in the routine that we have established there, but also so that I can get some one-on-one with Liam.  I am spoiled to be able to have this.  Each morning we trek out of the house to drop Eoin off and it is sort of the beginning to our day.  Around 4:00pm we start preparing to go and get Eoin.  He is usually thrilled to see 'the baby' and I!  He is a great big brother and I know some mornings he would rather stay home with us and so we laze around until he is ready.  I learned my lesson on keeping him home when he wore me out by going to the zoo, the park and the Playland at McDonald's all before lunch.  Let's just say I was wore out and he was still raring to go!  Each Friday at Little Jewels  has 'Cookie Friday' and while each child leaves they can get a warm, freshly baked cookie!  It is certainly one of Eoin's favorite days of the week . . . looking at this face, even though Friday's while on maternity leave have a little bit of a different feeling, you can't help but smile from ear to ear either!
