Fun times!

Laughing and smiling :)
trying out the Bumpo . . . so far so good
Looking over at Daddy . . .
There he is, so Eoin tries to give him a kiss!

School started this week for me . . . Monday and Thursday evenings from now through the beginning of December will now consist of class :( I am not sure what I have gotten myself into yet (full-time job, mommy, 2 classes) but I'm sure I will get through it just fine; thankfully I have the support of a wonderful husband.
Eoin is so content; he is usually smiling or laughing at something these days; mostly ceiling fans, actually. We are still in the process of finishing off our front porch and needed to purchase a new ceiling fan. I decided to put Eoin in his Baby Bjorn for the trip to Lowes; he loved looking all around, but really found his element when we entered the ceiling fan department. His poor little neck probably got neck strain and it was such a stimulus overload that he was sleeping (in the Baby Bjorn) within minutes.
As you can tell from the photos above, we decided it might be time to take out the Bumpo chair; Eoin sits up very well in it and looks a lot older than his 2 months of age. He liked it because he can look around; he looked around for Daddy and found him.
On Monday, Eoin's newest little friend was born, Amelia Elaine Gilmore. She is such a little peanut and so precious. Eoin is so excited that he is going to have someone to play with, even if it is a girl :)

2 month check up!

Wow!!!
14lbs!
22.5"
My son is the baby version of George Kastanza (Seinfeld flashback:))
Eoin and I ventured to Dr. Weaver's yesterday for his 2 month well baby check up. Everything is very well . . . he weighed in at a whopping 14lbs (90th percentile) and measured 22.5 inches (25th percentile) . . . Dr. Weaver and I had a quick giggle as if he were a grown man with these percentiles he would 5'6" and 220lbs! This paired with his cute little hairline makes him very George-like :) Not to worry, these don't mean too much at this age and I think that Eoin is much more handsome that George; Jordan is just worried we may have a lineman rather than a linebacker :)
Nevertheless, he is very heathly and we couldn't ask for more; he is so alert and aware and happy! He truly is a very content little baby boy :) He was very good for his shots and I didn't shed quite as many tears as last time . . . just to be sure everything was alright with our lil' man, Grandma Kohn watched him instead of sending him to Aunt Terri's. I was very grateful as were were unsure how he would react to his shots, but he was fine; a little sleepy and he snacked on bottles, therefore waking at 3:00 am and then again at 5:30, but we expected it to be much worse.

2 months old!

How time flies . . . today Eoin is two months old . . . let's get this straight for those who may be confused (Erin, ahem) . . . Eoin was born on June 10th, today is August 10th, therefore he is 2 months old; the fact that he was born on a Tuesday and today is Sunday doesn't really affect the fact that he is, indeed, 2 months old today :)

He is a delight to have around and continues to sleep through the night; he has been smiling and laughing when he is having fun with his toys and when mommy or daddy pick him up from Aunt Terri's house.

Yesterday Jordan and I attended Stacy's beautiful wedding . . . congratulations to the Duracko's! Eoin came to the church with us and was very well-behaved. Afterwards we dropped him off with Grandma and Grandpa so we could head to the reception. We had a great time even though it was our first night a part from our little man (we decided to sleep in our own bed). He was good for Grandma and Grandpa, but woke up at 4:30 as opposed to 5:30 and he usually goes back to sleep, but he didn't, so Grandma was very tired. We headed over to see him early and found Eoin and Grandma camped out in Aunt Jessi's bed!

Before the wedding we were able to shoot some pictures of our little family in Grandma and Grandpa Kohn's backyard, I will get them posted as soon as I get them from Grandma Kohn as they were shot on her camera.

Wednesday is Eoin's 2 month check up with Dr. Weaver; we are very anxious to see how much our little man has grown (however, not quite so anxious for the shots he is going to receive, shhh don't tell him yet :()

Lovin' Life

Eoin with his thumb!

I can't believe I am finishing out my first full week of work . . . it has been sad at times, I miss Eoin tons, but at the same time things seem to be working out pretty well. There is nothing I love more in this world than that little boy and he lights up my life every morning and every evening with smiles . . .

He has been sleeping until 5:30am now! We are so lucky to have such a good baby . . .although I do have to say that I am nervous to have another now, because I've been told that however the 1st baby is, the 2nd will be completely opposite . . .

We have a thumb sucker on our hands . . . as many of you know, Eoin has been attached to his pacifier since the day he left the hospital, but it isn't working as well as he likes and over the last few days has really been pacified by his little thumb. It is so cute! He doesn't always get his thumb into his mouth and so he is often caught sucking on his entire fist, but he is really working at it. Last night we went to see Daddy coaching the Knockers (he is coaching Jacob Gilmore) and walked around the lake at White Oak Park; Eoin was sleeping for most of the time, but decided to wake up 1/2 way around our last lap of the lake, the only way he could calm himself was with his thumb! :) It was a beautiful walk, so I think we will make it a habit to join Daddy for his practices and games. It is also helping me get into those pre-preggo clothes . . . I have 7lbs more to pre-preggo weight, but it must be acknowledged that my pre-preggo weight was post an all-inclusive vacation ;) so a little more coming off wouldn't be a tragedy.

Routine

Eoin smiling at Lily
Lily being so gentle with the baby, and giving him a kiss . . . I think he blushed
staring at his frog
Lily was so good with Eoin . . . she is going to be a fantastic big sister!

So, I am now in the middle of my second week back at work and Eoin's first week at the babysitters. We are very lucky that Jordan's Aunt Terri will watch Eoin in her home and it is literally right down the road from our house :) It was very difficult leaving him (he is fantastic in the mornings and wakes up with a great big smile on his face) but I know he is in great hands. We also now have our routine down; it also helps that Eoin is now sleeping through the night :) Yep, that' right . . .

Saturday night, Jordan and I ventured up to Orland Park for Sandi and Ray's wedding (it was absolutely beautiful by the way, and so completely Sandi!). We were unsure of whether or not we would be staying, but decided that we just couldn't leave Eoin overnight, so we drove back to Bloomington to pick up our little prince and arrived at midnight . . . he was sleeping in the bassinet in Grandma and Grandpa's room, so we disturbed him; he grunted and groaned, but didn't wake up. When we got home, we figured that Eoin would surely be waking in a couple of hours for a feeding, so I decided to try and feed him then (about 12:45am) and he took 4oz. of a bottle but didn't wake up for any of it :) He slept through until 6:00 am!! We were elated, but cautious to celebrate too much . . . but, let the celebrations begin . . .

Sunday night, Jordan and I went over to our friends Katie and Jeff's for pizza. We were optimistic about Eoin sleeping through the night again as Lily played with Eoin enough to make him a very sleepy boy . . . we headed home, gave Eoin his nightly bath and then fed him and put him in his crib. He slept from 9:00ish until 5:00am! This may not seem like through the night for those of you who get up late, but for us it is fantastic! 8/3/08 . . . love it! He has been following this schedule now for three nights :) He wakes up at 5:00am and either Jordan or I feed him (it has been Jordan more than me, though, thanks honey:)) and then he gets to stay in bed with us until we get up. I get up at 6:30 and Eoin lies in bed while I get ready for work; once I am ready, I get him ready and we are out the door! I thought it was going to be harder than it has been as far as time wise, but it isn't too bad . . . granted, I am getting up about 2 hours before I have to be at work, so hopefully we can get things together better and I might be able to sleep until 7:00, gasp!

Update:

7/23/08
Wow! I've been a bad blogger . . . I'm going to attribute my lack of blogging to two things 1. Jordan crashed the hard drive on my laptop :( and 2. I have a 50 page paper for class due in one week! So please forgive me because I've also been spending lots of quality time with my lil' man before returning to work on Monday . . . at which time I promise up and down to update everyone and stay abreast of every Eoin Dean moment via the blog! Talk to you soon and wish me luck on the paper :)

8/5/08
Well, I was able to take some time and go back through pictures and events and back-blogged for June and July! Thankfully, I had started most blogs and just needed to finish them off. Have fun looking over the pictures and stories and I am promising to be more up to date with things from here on out!

Oh Eoin!
