Goodbye Weekend

Can you believe another weekend has flown by?  I really wish time would slow down . . . I love enjoying every minute I can!
  • Goodbye night home with Daddy:  I had a 'Red Hot Society' (a group supporting women's athletics at Illinois State University) event on Friday night.  I got to spend some time with some phenomenal women poolside at Julie D's home while Eoin and Liam hung out with daddy!  Although I missed the boys, I resisted the urge to call home and entrusted Jordan to take care of business.  I came home to all three boys sleeping.  They had fun and so did I, success!

  • Goodbye walking for a great cause:  Saturday morning, the boys and I headed out to The Corn Crib for an Easter Seals event titled 'Walk With Me.'  Jordan had to work, so both boys joined me in the hot weather!  We represented McDonald's and Little Jewels as major sponsors and walked a mile with an Easter Seals representative.  Eoin insisted on wearing a baseball shirt since it was at the baseball fields and picked out one that was incredibly heavy!  Eoin walked with me while Liam sat in the shade with one of his teachers, Ms. Jen.  We headed home shortly after the walk...the only good place when the heat soars as it has recently is either inside with air conditioning or in the pool....
  • Goodbye pool/family time:  Lucky for us, we have our pick when it comes to pools!  Aunties Tina and Krystal were hosted a family get together on Saturday afternoon as Jordan's family from Virgina, the Vernon's, were in town!  When Jordan was finished with work we headed over to spend time with the girls Megan, Abigail and Savannah.  Carson was also there and Eoin loved all the attention!  Abigail got some special Liam lovin' in.  I think it was safe to say all the boys had a blast!  Can't wait to visit the Vernon's on their turf soon! (yep, Amy! I said it ;))

  • Goodbye Lazy Sunday:  We woke up Sunday to a storm!  A great relief to the heat that we had over the past week.  We took advantage of the weather by lazily enjoying our Sunday.  Eoin played with his cars in the morning creating a parking lot before we went to breakfast.  Of course, before that, we had to call and wish Grandma Lisa a very happy birthday.  Afterward, Jordan cleaned while I attempted grocery shopping with the two kids for the first time.  It was definitely not as difficult as anticipated as both boys were little angels!  We capped off the uneventful day with a nice dinner and early to bed . . . sometimes down time is necessary!

Eoin-isms

Eoin has had a few dousies this week!  Asking him a question usually results in a chuckle!
  • "Are you wearing your backyardigan?"  (my cardigan!)  I have to admit that I have grabbed a cardigan almost everyday this week in order to hear him say this!  It cracks me up, and no, I don't correct him!
  • "Hello, Jordan!" This was stated upon Jordan answering the phone while it played through the car on bluetooth.
  • "G'night, Daddy.  Go color in your box!, haha"  Okay, this one requires a little background knowledge.  The Moose classroom at Little Jewels is on a merit system.  The child begins the day 'on green.'  If they misbehave they get a warning, therefore they are 'on yellow.'  If they are really misbehaving, they get sent to the office and are 'on red.'  If they are 'on green' for the day, at the end of the day, they get to color in a square on a chart next to their name.  If they get five squares colored in, they get to pick out a small prize.  Eoin has been lusting over a Caterpillar back hoe (when did I start saying statement like this!  the sad thing is I actually know what it is!) and Jordan promised him one if he got all his squares colored in for the week.  Well two nights ago, when preparing for bed, Jordan and Eoin were talking about just this.  Jordan misspoke and told Eoin that if he got all his 'boxes' colored in, he could get his toy.  Eoin cracked up!  'Boxes?, haha!  They're not boxes, Daddy, they're squares!'  You would've thought Jordan was a comedian the way Eoin was laughing.  The statement above is what Eoin told Jordan as Jordan was leaving the bedroom.  He's a little smarty pants!

Gym Time!

I had set Liam on his activity mat a couple times before, but he wasn't really interested; last night, he was pretty alert, so we tried it again.  He was amazed!  He was kicking, screeching and reaching the entire time.  I think it is safe to say he enjoyed it.  His little face was so sweet!

Heat Wave

We've been dealing with quite the heat wave, with heat indexes reaching into the 100's we have felt like we are melting most days.  So unless we go outside for some pool time, this week we have been lounging indoors, with as little clothes on as possible - well, at least some of us have and they look cute doing it!

Goodbye Weekend

Chalking up another fantastic and busy weekend in the books.

  • Goodbye pictures:  Starting the weekend a little early this week, I headed out right after work to have the boys' pictures taken.  For Liam it was 3 months and for Eoin it was as close to 3 years as we could get this year.  Although I wasn't sure what the session was going to result in, I received the proofing gallery on Friday afternoon and was thrilled.  Laura Kruger is a magician.  I really didn't think there was going to be one good picture in the bunch.  Neither boy was too cooperative or manageable - between Liam crying and Eoin doing somersaults all over, I'm sure it was funny to watch!  Laura posted a preview very quickly and here they are . . .

  • Goodbye quality car time:  We drove up to Lake Villa on Friday evening.  Although Jordan was exhausted (he left for work at 4:00am on Friday morning), he drove.  I find time in the car to be some of the best times.  We are all in one car together and can chat and catch up.  Thankfully I have two little boys that travel incredibly well; we arrived up north around 9:30pm, not leaving too much time to visit before bed called our name!  We left late (for us) on Saturday at 8:40pm, not arriving home until close to midnight.  Eoin did not sleep the entire way home!  Needless to say
  • Goodbye sleeping in:  Saturday, Eoin played with McKaylah, Jordan ran to Menards for some home improving for my mom, and Auntie Hannah, Mom and Kelly took Liam so I slept in!!  It was amazing.  Sunday, the boys and Jordan and I were wore out so we all slept in!  It was great.
  • Goodbye birthday celebration:  Although Kennedy's birthday is 2 days after Eoin's (June 12th) her birthday party was held on Saturday.  A Dora theme was carried throughout the party and there were even special guests, Dora & Diego! (Um, it was really too hot for a full body fleece costume, but Jordan and I were troopers!)  Eoin played all day long in the bounce house, with toys that were not his and finally on the water slide.  It seemed as if he had boundless energy, but did pass out at one point in McKaylah's tent in the basement.

  • Goodbye friend and a play:  I cleaned the house top to bottom and it felt great.  I was able to do this and spend some time with my youngest little man as Eoin was asked to accompany friends to a children's play (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Community Players) and then out for some ice cream.  He had such a blast with Iam and Ben.  He slept so well on Sunday night, closing out another busy weekend filled with fun!

    3 months old {Liam}

I can hardly believe how fast the past 3 months have flown by, yet at the same time, it is difficult to remember or imagine life without Liam.  He is such a great baby.  My fears about having number two were unfounded.  He sleeps well, eats well and fits so well into our little family it was as if he was missing all along.  He is smiling hugely when he hears my voice or Eoin's and it is just a matter of time before he lets a belly laugh roll!  Liam is currently in sized 6 months clothing and growing.  We are days (hours?) away from meeting his newest cousin, Grayson, and I cannot wait to snuggle a newborn again.  As of today, Liam is a 'baby' not a 'newborn.'

    Smiley morning!

Liam is without a doubt the happiest in the morning.  I have yet to catch his biggest smiles on camera, but even this one melts my heart!  I cherish my mornings with him; I know that these days are short lived and I just love from 6-6:30 when he nurses and we snuggle.  He certainly is lovable; the minute Eoin wakes up he runs to me, but then immediately asks is Liam is awake because he wants to snuggle.

    You are my sunshine . . .

. . . my only sunshine?  We have always labeled Eoin as our little sour patch kid; you know, first they're sour, then they're sweet?  Well, this is vice versa; this child never fails to make me laugh!

    Goodbye Weekend

Stealing an idea from my gorgeous friend, Natalie, at yourbestbeautiful.com, I am initiating a weekly au revoir to the weekend post.  As a working mom, most of our fun occurs between Friday evening and Sunday night; not to say we don't occasionally blast out of the mold during the week and that is certainly blogable (a new word!).  But here goes for this past weekend (Natalie, I fear my posts will be much more wordy than your beautifully concise statements!).

    • Goodbye Bob's Beach Bash:  Jordan and I attended a fundraiser for his alma mater sans children.  We used a babysitter (Kellye Kohn) for the first time since Liam's birth.  I checked in several times, but Liam and Eoin seemed to be in great hands.  We stayed out longer than expected and arrived home about 10:15pm.  Man, how have the times changed.  10:15pm is when things used to be just getting started.
    • Goodbye sleeping in:  Although Jordan had to get up early for work on Saturday morning, Liam and I slept in while Eoin watched cartoons.  He may have constantly asked if it was 'wake up time.'
    • Goodbye Farmer's Market:  Saturday morning the boys and I headed to the Downtown Farmer's Market.  I was volunteering at the Arthritis Foundation table from 10a-noon and since Jordan was working the boys came with me.  Liam was great and Eoin put himself to work handing out jingle bells representing the Jingle Bell Run.  It was incredibly hot!  Eoin charmed some guys into a Mango tea and a cookie - he is certainly not shy!  Close to our booth was the Miller Park Zoo booth and Eoin had to go and see the 'turtle' that was actually a tortoise.  His poor little eye had sunscreen in it!  Excuse the weird expression.

    • Goodbye swimming pool:  On both Saturday and Sunday many pool hours were logged for my little fish.  With temperatures soaring the only relief, besides the seclusion of the indoors, was in a pool.  We all got in, Liam included!  He seems very content in the water just splashing a little.
    • Goodbye movie experience:  Eoin and Liam experience their first movie in a theater setting on Saturday night.  Cars 2 was a hit for both.  Although Liam slept throughout with a little spell of crying at the beginning (I removed myself from the theater to settle him down) and Eoin was up and down going to the bathroom (2 large sodas will do that!) we had such a fun time and hope to go again soon.
    • Goodbye Mexican food:  No movie experience is complete without dinner before or after ;)  Eoin was so exhausted from the long day he could barely stay wake and continuously asked if it was time to go home; we obliged, as we were exhausted ourselves!
    • Goodbye Sugar Creek Art Festival:  I head to this each year with my mother-in-law.  She has taught me the value of one of a kind art pieces and each year we wander through looking for a unique find.  This year Eoin and Liam accompanied me and once again it was a scorcher of a day!  After some AC relief in Jimmy Johns (and of course a cookie) we packaged up some finds and headed home, not before walking through the fountain in the roundabout of Uptown Normal.

    Good bye weekend!
We welcome the wonderful week ahead!
Hopefully Baby Grayson will make an appearance!

    Visitors

A quick note:  I promise I have lots of posts to come and will be keeping up on them like a good little blogger; however, I have been hearing lately that I have more than just a few readers of this little blog :)  That makes me so happy!  Seriously, sometimes I don't update because I use this for my own record keeping (I print out each year and they are displayed on the bookcase in my living room) and don't really think of it as having other people check it out, but I just looked and I have visitors from Carrickfergus checking out our little blog and some others too!  I love it!  I also love comments, so leave them, even anonymously!  Thanks everyone ;)
